The rivalries in Iraq between Shias and Sunnis, and between Kurds and Arabs is not hidden from the world, these have been active rivalries for decades now in the entire gulf but Iraq being the main battlefield for them to carry out combats. There are several militant groups which support or follow the mindset of this Shia and Sunni rivalry, though the majority population of Iraq is Shia, but in the time of Saddam Hussein Sunnis were indicted to be enjoying the lion’s share in almost everything, it was said that Saddam only recruited Sunnis in the Iraqi army. The common mindset is Kurds and Shias, while Arabs are mostly Sunnis, Sunnis are accused of trying to divide Iraq and trying to get an independent Sunni state. The question is that all of this mess is this sectarian difference? Power struggle? Or just trying to get in control of the best the richest and productive parts of Iraq, main thought behind it all may be the oil reserves, and most of them still unexplored.
The Kurdish ethnic groups are in operations in the northern Iraq, the Shia ethnic groups are holders of the wells in south Iraq, and the Sunni groups are in power near the west of Baghdad. Baghdad is an urban city and it is not an oil resource, Thinking of Sunnis in Iraq is that they have no future in Iraq and a separate Sunni state is need, not all of them have reached extreme level but those who have, have joined militant forces who are in operation in Iraq trying to gain a Sunni state and away from the Shia domination, as they claim it.

It is alarming that the push for divided Iraq has succeeded in the recent years, and are fights between militant groups of both sides, but Sunnis have indicated that they have the capacity to destabilize the country if not given equal rights, the government has some arrangements that has ensured Sunnis of their inclusion in political positions and future of Iraq. But all these arrangements and efforts of the government seem to go in vein, because the militant groups seem to get stronger and stronger, and they would not back off until they get what they want, and what they want is Iraq in pieces, there are people from the school of thought that say Iraq cannot remain one anymore and the division of Iraq is inevitable.
And to be honest the division of Iraq seems likelier than ever, the major issue in the division of Iraq stands the division of revenue, if Iraq is divided into two or three parts who is to decide how much which part gets. Reasonably a divided Iraq is the solution to all this violence and combats, may be this divide from within would take its toll on the nation and it would be divided but who knows it will happen or not, and will the divide Iraq be an economically stable region or not?
